Being home together is a gift, it’s also really hard. We‘ve had moments these past couple weeks, individually + together, that reveal the not so pretty parts of our hearts. The yuck that shows up amidst stress and new challenges; when routines fly out the window, feedings + diapers fill the day, baby cries, sleep is broken, oh, and yeah, when we’re facing a pandemic, #stayinghome
as healthcare workers, not supporting our teams, and also not getting to spend time with our closest people as a new family — it’s real. Our hearts aching for our community, for our world. We’re reminded of our need for grace and guidance, healing and wisdom especially in times like these. And these things come when we allow King Jesus to reign. It’s been too easy for distractions to take the place of togetherness, for control to take the place of our peace. So we’re slowing down, inviting Him to come even closer, into this new season, into all the unknowns. We’re cutting one another more slack, trying to encourage even when we’re irritated, saying aloud more often “we’re on the same team” and learning to find beauty and joy in the mess.
