Last night was a very interesting night.
At just past 3am we were woken up by our dog barking loudly. I immediately knew something wasn’t right 😕
I looked outside and saw a flash light moving around near the front of our house so I let our dog onto the balcony. He continued to bark loudly. I snuck out to see what was happening. It was clear that someone with a flashlight was trying to open the van owned by the people next door. Initially I thought it might have been the owner (perhaps he had lost his keys 🤔) but it soon became clear that it was someone breaking into the van.
After trying to open the driver’s side door, the person went to the back hatch door of the van and within a few seconds it was open. The person used the torch to search the contents in the back of the van and we saw the person pick up something, probably a toolbox, from the van.
The guy got into a previously unseen Ute and then cruised slowly and silently down the street, stopping to check out other cars parked on the street, presumably for what was inside or maybe how easy it would be to break into.
It all happened so quickly and we couldn’t see any number plate details because it was so dark. We contemplated calling the police but with the car gone and no plate details to leave, it seemed pointless.
Needless to say, these are interesting times 😞. We live in a very quiet street in a suburb with very low crime rates.
I keep hearing that all the isolation and loss of jobs is going to increase crime and we witnessed this happening 😔
This photo was taken on the full moonrise in March this year. .
Stay safe everyone 🌙✨💛
