My goal is to create bikes that tell stories like this beautifully penned tribute by @cottagepleased
🚲She tells me she’s downsizing her fleet so that she can have me design the custom bike of her dreams. It would be an honor and a challenge I’d relish! ・・・
~A Love Story~
Goodbye, Mad Max. You were good to me. I don’t blame you for one of my first dumps, at the top of Mt Diablo on the granite gravel where I had to choose between the elderly man, the cliff, or (the chosen path of) the Manzanita Bush. Or, the injury on the Flume Trail, where my kneecap hit the giant river rock on the backside, but did not ( miraculously) crack my kneecap. Or, the time I tried to go down, across, up, and over the river bank’s edge in Downieville but instead, went down. Hard. Or, the lovely route in South Lake Tahoe where it was direct contact with a giant pinetree trunk, or, eating (literally) soft, dusty, dirt. Or, the bruises. Elbow. Knees. Arms. Thighs. Shin. I shall remember, instead, Lake Chabot, in the sludgy mud, and glorious mud splats on my face, and up my back. A giant grin. I shall remember Pleasanton Ridge, and holding you over my head, in triumph. I shall recall the consistent Tuesday nights at Chabot, in the cold and dark of winter, and the sun and heat of summer (even making it part of my Ironman training). We saw a white owl, skunks, a bear, turkeys, a bobcat, and many, many butterflies together. The views. The flowers. You cozying up with another bike, with the ocean views, or pinetrees, or poppies. We had many, many grand adventures, because, you know, adventure days are the very best days.
But now, it is time. It is time for you to bring, love, joy, thrills, and yes, even spills to some future high school girl. I can’t tell you yet, if, or when I will replace you. I do know this, I will alway love you. #bike #bikelove #morekidsonbikes #girlbikers #adventuredaysarethebestdays #alovestory
