First photo taken January 24th 2018. My first day experiencing the mystical coast of the Pacific Northwest. It was rainy and cold and perfect. We stopped at a few places but this one, Indian beach, almost instantly became my favorite.
Second lil gem, taken August 5, 2019 which was my last time at Indian while surfing and holding a giant Michelada and announcing there was still a pocket of pee floating around my wetsuit....
I’ve found myself consistently reflecting on past photos and videos during this quarantine. Not in a depressing sort of way that’s trying to make up for the fact I’m not even supposed to go into the woods or to the beaches right now... but rather a way of reminiscing all the good spots I don’t ever want to take for granted again. There are nooks and crannies tucked away outside every direction of my home to explore, revisit, discover, or pee in my wetsuit, once this pandemic ceases to escalate and fingers crossed, allows us to roam freely again.
In the meantime, I’ve found more of those nooks in and around my home. Spots I’ve never spent much time sitting in before, views I’ve never noticed, even my nightly walk I can’t imagine missing now. I’m fortunate I have a happy home during all of this and even if your situation is less than ideal, find a nook, find a place that brings a tinge of joy, and remember all those places you can’t wait to run away to once house arrest is over.
